About the Healthways Well-Being Assessment

Your competitiveness is driven by the health and productivity of the people within your organization. The Healthways Well-Being Assessment, which includes both the Well-Being Survey and Report of Findings, helps employers across the nation measure health and well-being to understand and improve both for better business performance.

Unlike a traditional health risk assessment (HRA), the comprehensive Healthways Well-Being Assessment allows you to measure your organization across six key areas, including: life evaluation, physical health, emotional health, healthy behavior, work environment and basic access to necessities, with added focus on employee productivity, work environment and health culture.

Benefits of the Assessment:
  • Gain a comprehensive view of your organization's social, emotional and physical well-being to understand how to target investments that best support those needs.
  • Assess the real quality of your work environment, including its stressors, culture, leadership, wellness and prevention programs, and recruitment and retention efforts to determine exactly where improvements are needed for a more engaged workforce.
  • Benchmark your organization nationally, regionally, locally, by business unit and/or location.
  • Understand the health conditions your workforce is experiencing and how you can support them for optimal productivity and minimal absenteeism.
  • Use the assessment tool to create customized solutions for your unique workforce, provide a more supportive work environment, and earn recognition as an employer of choice.
  • Save money on medical costs. Learn what the significant contributors are to your direct medical costs, and whether they're systemic or exist in unique locations within your organization. This knowledge can help you design and target better ways to address these health cost drivers.

Everyone plays an important part in transforming healthcare. We believe that the Healthways Well-Being Assessment can be used as a fundamental tool for organizational transformation, and we encourage you to take a deeper look at your business's well-being by administering this assessment.

Administering the Assessment:

You will be guided step-by-step through the assessment administration process. It's easy. You provide us with the information and we do all the legwork, including the electronic delivery of communications to your entire population. Your surveyed employees will also receive individual Well-Being Reports.

About the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index

Partnering to improve Well-Being:

On January 2, 2008, Gallup and Healthways formed a 25-year historic collaboration for American health transformation, merging decades of clinical research and development expertise, health leadership and behavioral economics to understand the key factors that drive well-being. The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index is the result of both companies' commitment to transform healthcare by advancing the world's understanding of well-being and its impact on our lives.

About the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index:

The Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index provides a comprehensive, real-time view of the public's well-being in the United States, giving governments, health plans, employers and communities' unmatched insight into the health and prosperity of their populations. The Well-Being Index is today's "voice of the people" and the most ambitious effort ever undertaken to measure what it is that people believe constitutes a good life, who is feeling good about life, and who is in need of a helping hand.

With the goal of providing the world's most up-to-date measure of individual and collective health and well-being, the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index tracks the well-being of U.S. residents 350 days out of the year interviewing no fewer than 500 adults nationwide each day.

The Well-Being Index is comprised of questions providing an overall composite metric based on six individual and interrelated domains and indices of well-being: Life Evaluation, Emotional Health, Physical Health, Healthy Behavior, Work Environment and Basic Access.

Healthways Well-Being Assessment, an extension of
the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index Community Survey:

1,000 completed daily Community Surveys are administered telephonically by Gallup on a national level to generate the data for the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index. The state, city, Congressional District and community findings help organizations and policy makers better understand health and well-being at a macro level to improve it.

Administered at an organizational level, the Healthways Well-Being Assessment includes a majority of the questions from the Community Survey with additional questions around employee productivity, work environment and engagement, organizational support of healthy lifestyle choices, and their impact to business performance. It contains a deeper analysis of health risks and status with the inclusion of an NCQA-accredited health risk assessment (HRA). Through the delivery of an organizational report, findings from the Healthways Well-Being Assessment are benchmarked and compared with the national measures in the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index Community Survey. Employees completing the assessment receive individual well-being reports as well.
